Shayna Bracha - Joanne Farber

Shayna Bracha was born Joanne Sigel in Chicago, Illinois in 1955. She was also given the Hebrew name Shayna Bracha which means "beautiful blessing."

In 1995 she was stricken with Raynauds phenomenon, a circulatory abnormality which developed into fibromyalgia and then chronic fatigue syndrome. Her painting became an important part of her recovery process. In March of 2001 she attended a retreat with Peruvian Master-Shaman Juan Nunez del Prado to learn about energy fields surrounding the body and how to use stones and crystals to affect the chakras and remove negative energy.

She began combining these techniques with art instruction, having her students bring their favorite music to help them relax and teaching them brush strokes and colors, as well as use of Sound, Meditation, stones and aromatherapy to free the artist within.

Shayna is a Certified Sound Healer, trained by Chant Master Jonathan Goldman. She has also studied vibrational aromatherapy through Ixchel Susan Leigh, the author and teacher of Aromatic Alchemy. Shayna has studied Kabbalistic healing techniques at the Hebrew Seminary of the Deaf in Skokie, IL.   And other distinguish teachers.

Shayna artwork has been in galleries in Chicago, and Houston.

Creation of Art that transcends Healing is her calling from GOD; to have the opportunity to reach as many people. Transformation like a butterfly being able to open them up to the universe guiding them through and enabling the individual for freedom of expression, self-empowerment, self-esteem, and the many stages of life. She would love to be a helpful and inspirational part of your life.

Shayna lives with her husband in the foothills of the Great Smoky mountains of Tennessee.

Yoga

Vinyasa means "breath-synchronized movement," and Vinyasa yoga is a series of poses that will move us through the power of inhaling and exhaling. Vinyasa movements are smoothly flowing and almost dance-like, which explains why it is sometimes referred to as Vinyasa Flow or just Flow.

Vinyasa Flow began as Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga by a Yogi named Sri Tirumala Krishnamacharya. He was given a place to teach yoga and eventually taught a young boy named Parrabhi Jois his learnings on the power of breathing. Jois then established an institute for practicing the specific form of Vinyasa yoga.

Like all styles of yoga, Vinyasa has both mental and physical benefits. Physically, sweat expels toxins and re-energizes your body. Mentally, the synchronized breathing relaxes your mind and helps to release any blockage of energy flow throughout your body.

In Hindu and tantric/yogic traditions and other belief systems chakras are energy points or knots in the  body. They are located at the physical counterparts of the major plexuses of arteries, veins and nerves. There are 7 chakras that are considered to be the most important ones. Their name derives from the Sanskrit word for "wheel" or "turning", but in the yogic context a better translation of the word is “vortex or whirlpool”.

We will move through our poses rather slowly and our focus will be on breathing. Every pose will correspond with a certain charka. The chakras will become cleansed and re-energized through movement and breath.

Monika Taylor

I’ve lived in east Tennessee since 2004. I have been a substitute yoga instructor since 2013. My ultimate goal is to become a full-time yoga instructor. It was 2007 when I attended my first yoga class. The main reason I started my practice was to gain more flexibility.

Guess what? Yoga delivered! I’ve done a lot of skiing, hiking, skating, biking, aerobics, and swimming throughout my life. All these sports require strength, endurance, coordination, and balance. Despite my active lifestyle, there was always something missing. I started craving a discipline that would help my body regenerate. Yoga answered this calling. What exactly is yoga? Yoga is a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is practiced for health and relaxation. Ever since I started my practice, I’ve become more flexible: from my toes, through my hip joints, to my shoulders. I’ve learned to recognize my body’s physical limitations as well as what it is capable of. My posture has improved. Yoga has helped me relax and go inward. It has shown me that it could be a serious workout and meditation at the same time.

Yoga is fabulous! Let’s all work together on connecting our mind, body, and spirit in the name of yoga!

Namaste.
